To do this you need a pair of knitting needles, a crochet hook, working yarn and some waste yarn. With the waste yarn and crochet hook make a foundation chain. Then pick up each stitch across the chain through the bottom loop and continue to knit. After you are done knitting in this direction and would like to continue work in other direction you need to transfer all the stitches that our foundation chain is holding into the second knitting needle.
